At Murm, we are building a platform for every person who needs to feel heard, supported, and less alone — right now, not later.

Our instant session model means there is no waiting, no scheduling, and no barriers between the moment you feel you need someone and the moment you meet them.

That immediacy only matters if it is accessible to everyone who needs it.

We are committed to making Murm — the app, the instant session flow, and the venue network — as accessible as possible to people of all abilities. We are a young company and we are honest: there is still work to do.

This statement describes where we are today and what we are working toward.

Our Commitments

  • We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards for our website and mobile application.
  • Accessibility considerations are built into our product development process from the beginning.
  • We conduct periodic accessibility reviews and act on findings.
  • Our product and design teams receive training on accessibility best practices.

Measures We Have Taken

Text Alternatives

All informative images and icons in the app include descriptive alternative text.

Screen Reader Compatibility

The Murm app is designed to function with screen reader software, including TalkBack on Android and VoiceOver on iOS.

Text Resizing

The app supports system-level text size adjustments across all screens including the live session map.

Sufficient Contrast

Our design system maintains minimum contrast ratios for all text and interactive elements.

Simple and Consistent Navigation

Screens are arranged in a logical and predictable structure to support fast and confident navigation.

Plain Language

All user-facing text — including these policies — is written in plain and clear language.

Session Model Accessibility

Our trusted venue list prioritises venues that are accessible to individuals with mobility considerations wherever possible.

Known Limitations

  • Some third-party venue content has not yet been audited for full accessibility compliance.
  • Certain interactive map features may have limited compatibility with some assistive technologies.
  • Some animations can currently only be disabled through device system-level accessibility settings.

We are actively working to address these limitations.

Accessible Instant Session Experience

Murm's instant session model — a real-time match, a public venue, and a human presence within 15 minutes — is designed to be flexible and low-barrier.

We are working toward additional accessibility improvements, including:

  • Tagging trusted venues with accessibility information such as wheelchair access, seating availability, and noise levels
  • Allowing Users to specify accessibility needs in their session preferences
  • Training Partners on adapting sessions for users with physical, sensory, or cognitive access needs
