Emotional Health Data Privacy Policy
Murmit Technologies India Private Limited
Effective Date: [Date]
This Policy supplements Murm's main Privacy Policy and specifically addresses how we handle data that relates to your emotional and mental wellbeing — the heart of what Murm is built on.
Murm is not a medical or therapeutic platform. Our Partners are not licensed therapists, psychologists, or clinical counsellors. Murm is a human connection platform designed to facilitate meaningful, instant in-person outdoor emotional support sessions.
Nevertheless, because you share aspects of how you feel when using Murm, we want to be transparent about how we treat that information.
What Emotional Health Data We Collect
When you use Murm, you voluntarily provide:
- Your emotional intent for a session (calm, connect, be, lift, or clear) — selected before each instant session request
- An optional brief note (up to 100 characters) you may add when sending a session request, sharing context about what you need from the session
- Post-session feedback about how you felt after a session
- Any emotional context shared in brief in-app messages during an active session
We may also infer general emotional patterns from your usage — for example, the types of intent you most frequently select and your session frequency — for the purpose of improving our Partner recommendations.
This inference is based on anonymised and aggregated signals and is never used to profile you for advertising or shared with third parties for commercial purposes.
What We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect clinical diagnoses, psychiatric records, or medical history.
- We do not require you to disclose any mental health condition to use Murm.
- We do not share your emotional context data with your Partner beyond what you choose to share through the optional note at the point of your session request.
- We do not use your emotional data to profile you for advertising.
How We Use Emotional Health Data
We use emotional health data strictly to:
- Match you with a suitable Partner based on your stated intent in real time
- Personalise venue and Partner recommendations for future instant sessions
- Improve our matching algorithm over time using anonymised and aggregated data
- Flag potential wellbeing concerns for our Safety Agent team where safety features or session patterns suggest a user may be in distress
We treat emotional health data as Sensitive Personal Data under the SPDI Rules. It is processed only with your explicit consent and is never sold or disclosed to third parties for commercial purposes.
How We Disclose Emotional Health Data
We may share emotional health-related data in the following circumstances:
- With your Partner: Only to the extent you choose to share it through the optional note when sending a session request. Partners are contractually prohibited from using this information outside the session context.
- With our Safety Agent team: Where automated safety flags or behavioural signals indicate potential distress, anonymised session context may be reviewed to determine whether a welfare check is needed.
- With emergency services: In genuine emergencies where vital interests are at stake, we may share relevant data with emergency responders including police, 112, or crisis services.
- With service providers: Cloud hosting and analytics providers who process data on our behalf under strict data processing agreements.
- In legal proceedings: Where required by a court order, government authority, or applicable Indian law.
Your Choices
You may choose to share as much or as little context as you wish in the optional note at the point of each session request. You are never required to explain yourself.
You may delete your session history and emotional intent data by contacting us at support@justmurm.com.
You may withdraw consent for emotional data processing at any time. However, doing so may affect our ability to match you with suitable Partners.
