Meeting someone new — even in a structured, verified, instantly matched setting — comes with responsibility.
Murm takes multiple steps to make sessions safe: Partner KYC verification, curated public trusted venues, and built-in safety tools within the app.
But the most important safety tool is you. These guidelines explain how to stay safe before, during, and after a session.
Before Your Session
Murm is instant — your Partner could be on their way within minutes. Your pre-session safety routine should be quick but non-negotiable.
- Check the Partner's profile.
Look at their bio, rating, and session count. Take a moment to feel comfortable with your choice before sending a request.
- Confirm the venue location.
Your session confirmation includes the trusted venue name and map pin. Make sure you know where you are going.
- Use Share Meeting Spot immediately.
Send your session location to a trusted contact as soon as the session is confirmed.
- Charge your phone.
Safety features like Emergency 112 and Safety Agent rely on your phone working properly.
- Never change the confirmed venue.
If a Partner asks you to meet anywhere other than the confirmed Murm venue, cancel the session and report it immediately.
- Tell someone where you're going.
A quick message to a trusted friend adds an additional layer of safety.
During Your Session
- Meet only at the confirmed Murm venue.
Never agree to move the meeting to a private residence, hotel, or vehicle.
- Stay in public view.
Remain in visible areas where other people or venue staff are present.
- Use Murm's in-app safety tools:
- Emergency 112 — direct emergency call
- Share Meeting Spot — live location sharing
- Safety Agent — non-emergency support
- Trust your instincts.
If something feels wrong, end the session and leave immediately.
- Do not share personal information.
Avoid sharing your home address, workplace, or financial details.
- Avoid substances.
Do not attend sessions while intoxicated. Report Partners who appear intoxicated.
Cancellation Safety Note
If something feels off after you have been matched, cancel within 2 minutes of confirmation to receive a full refund.
If you cancel after the 2-minute window, a small cancellation fee may apply — but your safety always comes first.
After Your Session
- Rate your session honestly.
Your feedback helps keep the community safe.
- Report anything concerning.
Report any behaviour that violates Murm's guidelines within 48 hours of the session.
- Be careful with personal contact.
If a Partner contacts you outside Murm in a way that feels uncomfortable, report it immediately.
For Partners: Your Safety Matters Too
Partners are entitled to safety and respect as well.
- If a User asks to meet at a private location, decline and report the request.
- If a User behaves aggressively or makes romantic or sexual advances, end the session immediately.
- If a User attempts to contact you outside Murm without consent, report the behaviour.
- If a User arrives intoxicated, you may cancel the session.
Murm treats Partner safety reports with the same seriousness as User safety reports.
Safety Is a Shared Responsibility
